As we celebrate our 30th year in business, we’re not only taking time to reflect on the projects, relationships and people who helped shape the company’s story. We’re also looking ahead to the future and the team helping carry Sunkota Construction forward.
Last week, we welcomed Matt Hintz to the Sunkota team as our newest Project Manager. Originally from Byron, Minnesota, Matt brings a strong appreciation for the teamwork it takes to bring construction projects to life.
What first drew him to the construction industry was the opportunity to see a project grow from an empty space or undeveloped site into a finished product.
“I like the idea of seeing a project go from nothing to a final product.”
That same appreciation carries into what he enjoys most about construction: watching different people, teams and trades come together around one shared goal.
“The collaboration these take from all parties to make this a reality,” he said.
In his new role at Sunkota, Matt is most excited about working with the team and helping the company continue to grow. He hopes to bring entusiasm and a collaborative spirit.
He also shared one career lesson that has stuck with him: trust your team.
For someone joining Sunkota during such an exciting season, that mindset fits right in. As the company continues into year 30 under new ownership, with a fresh vision and a busy summer ahead, teamwork will remain a major part of how projects move forward.
When it comes to the types of projects he enjoys most, Matt said commercial builds top the list. His dream project? Running a sports complex, basketball arena or even a new football stadium.
Which makes sens when you learn he’s a big Tennessee Volunteers football fan and previously worked as a college football coach.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys taking his dog hunting, getting out on the boat to fish when time allows and watching college football. He also mentioned that last year was his first year pheasant hunting, and he’s officially hooked.
His workday fuel of choice is black coffee.
“Love running on diesel,” he said.
