A Different Kind of Builder

When the Sunkota crew walks onto your project site, you’ll notice a sense of purpose different from that of other construction companies. Professional and skilled—that’s a given—qualities other companies will tout, as well. But there’s more. You’ll see a passion for construction that each team member wears on their shirt sleeves. It’s infectious. In fact, Sunkota’s owners will be leading that passionate team just dying to get their hands dirty, too.

Sunkota does it all when it comes to construction. The critical steps of all building projects—demolition, concrete, steel erection, rough carpentry, door and window installation, cabinetry and specialty finishes. And we take a personal interest in every aspect of every project. It’s a personal pride thing. Attention to detail. And an overall responsibility we take seriously.

This family-oriented company is focused on your development goals and objectives—On Your Horizon, as our tagline indicates. And in the process, we make construction fulfilling for both you and our Sunkota employees.

Our Services

Defining Professionalism

Sunkota’s family of craftsmen are well-trained, knowledgeable, ready to work, with the latest resources and focused on maintaining an organized jobsite. They think on their feet and interact well with coworkers and management on behalf of the client. As questions arise, you can be assured that, with the Sunkota Team on your project site, a solution will be expertly researched and determined. It will be the right solution.

Controlling Quality

Sunkota adheres to strict quality control on all projects—and our clients are included every step of the way. We keep our eye on the ball, so to speak. Our procedures ensure that products we use and services we perform adhere to a pre-defined set of client-approved quality criteria. Then, we build in phases so client input can be considered, incorporated and approved—at every critical phase. It’s the Sunkota Way—maintaining a set of standards in products and services by regularly testing outputs against specifications throughout the life of the project.

Taking the LEED in Sustainability

Today’s project developers, owners and tenants understand the benefits that LEED-certified spaces offer. They look for it. They expect it. Sunkota is onboard with sustainability. LEED certification means healthier, more productive places, reduced environmental stress by encouraging energy and resource-efficient buildings, and savings from increased building value, as well as higher lease rates and decreased utility costs. Because Sunkota is LEED-accredited, we strive to incorporate environmentally sound principles in every build. We’re good stewards of the project owner’s resources. We utilize materials, designs and processes which save energy, are locally available and have a minimal impact on the environment. It’s not a trend anymore—it’s a lifestyle.

Owning Responsibility

Sunkota is accountable for every detail of every building project we undertake. We self-perform the critical phases of each project from start to finish. Design, layout, concrete, steel erection and finishes down to the very last detail. You can trust Sunkota to take a personal interest in your project because, at the end of the day, we own up to our responsibility.
I always look forward to working with Sunkota on clients’ projects. They are responsive, cost-effective, and good people. Construction projects are more than just a deliverable, a fact that Sunkota understands and lives by.

John Dougan, HVAC Division Manager HOWE, Inc.
It is a pleasure working with the team at Sunkota! Both Chris and Dustin care about us and our project, even though it is not a large project. Their team is friendly and smart. They are willing to provide their information and options as well as listen to us and accept our ideas. They were helpful in developing our vision of transformation for our old WWII Base building Downtown Sioux Falls.
